Community Facility Redevelopment
Community Facility Redevelopment
This project began as an upgrade to the existing Whatman building. However, once work started, structural issues and the discovery of asbestos in the roof, underfloor, and coating systems required full demolition. To maintain progress, demolition and redesign were moved to a separate consent, allowing the new build to continue under the original Stage 1 consent.
Stage 1 included a new two-level facility featuring a multifunction auditorium with a raking roof, stage, sound desk, and servery, as well as reception, offices, meeting rooms, kitchenette, and storage areas. The entry lobby led to a covered outdoor patio, with high-quality finishes throughout—acoustic panels, commercial flooring, LED lighting, and detailed joinery.
Stage 2 added a large function room, commercial kitchen with walk-in pantry and timber servery, five-room toilet block, storage, and lobby extension. The kitchen was fully stainless steel with commercial appliances, and acoustic ceilings were used throughout. Our joinery team supplied all built-in seating and tables.
Exterior works included two large carparks, a covered drop-off area, full perimeter footpaths, and landscaped gardens—delivering a modern, versatile space for community use.
